This class will cover the process of inoculating several types of mushrooms, such as shiitake and oysters and diferent methods, such as drill-and-fill on logs and stump pillars. We’ll teach principles of mushroom growing such as timing, wood selection, spawn types, etc.
Registration Required. (Registrants will receive handout materials in advance via email.)
Why: Mushrooms are awesome! You’ll learn new skills necessary for growing delicious, nutritious additions to your diet right at home, and learn the numerous ecological benefits of inoculating mushrooms in your garden.
Course taught by: Tim Sonder.
Tim has been experimenting with cultivating mushrooms since 2017, and has had success and learned a lot to share with others. He has picked and identified mushrooms in the wild since he could walk.
- Attendance will be limited to 10 people.
- Please bring your own water and work gloves/boots. A hat is recommended.
- We do have gloves and tools we can share, but if you have a powerful battery-powered drill, please bring that (and label it with your name).
- This course is free to attend, but a $5 donation is requested and appreciated.
A waiver will be required to participate as a volunteer. You can sign it on-site, but if you are under 18 years old a parent or guardian must sign.
