August 17, 2015 - The First Sprouts

After days of diligent watering in the 90+ degree  weather, we are beginning to see signs of life from those little seeds.  The days have been excruciatingly hot and humid for about a week. we are making good use of the water from our rain barrel.

The pak choy, mixed greens and hon tsai are the first to emerge through the soil.  The basil plant from Lauren is thriving! I was able to harvest a handful for our caprese salad and the plant still looks plentiful.  It was aromatic and fresh with beautiful sliced tomatoes, buffalo mozzarella and a sprinkling of fleur de sel! What a treat!
